License & Limits

Each organization has a license. It decides which features its users can use (the scopes), how large a dataset can be, how many credits the organization starts with, and how long the license lasts. The same rules apply in SaaS and on self-hosted deployments.

The Free Trial is short and has few credits, but opens most scopes so you can evaluate them. See octopize.io for pricing.

Scopes

ScopeUnlocks
Single TableStandard tabular data anonymization
Multi-TableRelational data anonymization, with linked tables
Time SeriesTemporal data anonymization
Data AugmentationGenerating additional synthetic records, for example to balance classes
Differential PrivacyDP-based synthesis method (AvatarFastDP)
Privacy AssessmentPrivacy metrics computation
ReportTechnical Assessment and Impact Assessment report generation
GeolocationGeolocation-specific anonymization and privacy evaluation

Using a feature outside your scopes returns an error that names the scope it requires.

Credits

Credits are shared by everyone in the organization. Each avatarization costs 1 credit, whatever the size of the dataset. Privacy metrics, signal metrics and reports are free.

A database run costs 1 credit per table that it anonymizes or pseudonymizes. Tables that it copies, purges or ignores are free, and so is schema discovery.

When the organization runs out of credits, new avatarizations are refused until credits are added. Contact support@octopize.io to add credits or change your plan.

Limits

  • Dataset size: each dataset must fit within the row and column limits of the plan.
  • Retention: datasets and results are deleted automatically after a retention period, set per organization. Download your results to keep them.
  • Expiry: when the license expires, the organization is disabled within a day, and its users can no longer use the platform. Contact support to renew it.

Checking your license

Your user profile lists the scopes enabled for your account. From the Python client, with an API key:

from avatars.client import ApiClient

client = ApiClient(base_url="https://your-avatar-instance.com/api", api_key="your-api-key")
me = client.users.get_me() # the scopes are part of the user profile

On a self-hosted deployment

The license of an organization is the license attribute of its group in Authentik, for example license: expert. See User management. Users who sign up by themselves get the license set by AVATAR_AUTHENTIK_BLUEPRINT_SELF_SERVICE_LICENSE, see the Docker configuration.
